I have a John Deere 70 Garden Tractor with the Tecumseh VH70 vertical shaft engine. Is there a way to convert the magneto and points ignition system to a modern electronic ignition without breaking the bank?

Tecumseh never made a conversion kit for those units. I have seen some aftermarket modules that claim to work, but I have never had very good luck with them on those units. My advice would be to stick with the point system.
