ice auger spinning wrong way

I’ve had a jiffey ice auger for 12 years and never had a problem with it. Today while drilling a hole in the ice the auger got stuck, so I then jerked the auger in the direction it normally spins. then when I gave it some throttle the auger spun in the opposite direction than the one its suppose too! Now I am unable to use it.

Tim, I’m not entirely sure what your saying is even possible. The engine only runs one direction and then gear case in not reversible. So, I would like to see it. I have had this complaint once before. What happened was that he put on a bit from another brand of auger. Not all brands spin the same direction. That was the problem in that case. Not sure what your problem is without looking at it first.
