Hi Joe, I’m looking at purchasing the Ariens zoom 42. Do you have any experience with these as far as reliability, major problems? Also I have a moderately steep backyard, which would be better, a lawn tractor or a zero turn?

Todd, Ariens makes very good and reliable equipment. As far as operating it on a slope, if you read the owners manual you will find that operating it on a slope of greater than 15 degrees is not recommended. I beleive this is true of most equipment. If the slope is too great, in addition of it being dangerous to operate on, it can also be hard on the engine. Full pressure or splash lubricated, if the oil system can’t reach the oil, the engine will suffer. Joe
